At the wholesale market the day starts before dawn and everything is decided by the kilo: what the supplier unloaded, what the scale weighed, what the customer paid and the crates they owe you. The Almawarid Wholesale produce market module follows that chain post by post, from the supplier's truck to the statement you hand back.
The stall notebook keeps track of neither kilos, nor commissions, nor crates
A commission agent runs two trades in the same notebook: goods sold on behalf of a supplier for a commission, and goods bought to resell. In the evening you have to find what each supplier sold, deduct the commission and unloading costs, and pay back a net amount nobody can check.
Then there are the crates. Hundreds of empty crates leave every day for customers, with or without a deposit, and come back whenever they do. Add a tare worked out in your head, a weight scribbled on a piece of cardboard and a customer who will pay tomorrow: the day's margin disappears into kilos and packaging.
A chain of posts, one lot per delivery, a fair statement
Each supplier delivery becomes a numbered lot: product, origin, grade or size, crate type, number of crates and gross weight. Net weight is calculated automatically (gross minus number of crates × the crate's tare), and the lot is either a commission sale (the goods still belong to the supplier, you keep a percentage) or a resale (you paid for it by the kilo, the margin is yours). With no scale on arrival, the lot can still be sold and its weight completed later.
Sales follow the market floor: the seller creates the sale, the handler takes the goods out on a ticket with no price, the weigher records the gross weight, the cashier takes payment and prints the sales slip. Each employee only sees the screens of their post; in a small team one person can hold every post, and a sale weighed by hand goes straight to the till.
A market day, screen by screen
- Reception: the manager records the truck: commission or resale, commission percentage or purchase price per kilo, tare and net weight; handling or transport costs are then charged to the lot.
- New sale: customer, lot, number of crates, price per kilo suggested from the lot's last sale, and the crate deposit ticked or not on this slip.
- Weighing: the weigher types the gross weight or clicks “Read scale”; the tare comes from the crate type and the net weight appears at once.
- Point of sale: the cashier sees the sales already weighed, takes cash, transfer, cheque or credit, and prints the sales slip.
- Full day: commission and resale turnover, commissions, margin, costs, takings, crates out and back; the manager closes it in the evening and exports it to Excel.
What you gain
- A clear supplier statement. For a commission lot, the net to pay back is the lot's turnover minus your commission and its costs; the supplier statement prints with what has already been paid.
- Resale margin kept separate. Purchased lots have their own cost and gross margin, never mixed with commissions.
- Empty crates tracked per customer. Every crate out and back is recorded; the deposit is refunded on return, and crates never returned are invoiced or stay covered by the deposit already paid.
- Customer credit under control. A credit sale is settled later: each payment clears the oldest sales first, and the customer statement can be printed.
- Posts that don't get in each other's way. Seller, handler, weigher, cashier and manager: each has their own screen, and every sale has its number, running or reset every day.

Frequently asked questions
Which scale can be connected?
A scale that sends its weight over an RS-232 or USB-serial link, plugged into the weighing station and read by the Chrome or Edge browser. Speed and format are set once, with no programming. Without a scale, the weight is typed by hand.
Can a lot be sold before its weight is known?
Yes. A lot received without a weight remains on sale; it is flagged “weight to complete”, and its stock and purchase cost stay unknown until the weight is entered.
Is the crate deposit mandatory on every sale?
No. It is ticked or not on each slip, pre-ticked according to the customer. Unticked, the slip does not mention crates.
What happens when the day is closed?
The day's totals are frozen. Closing is impossible while a sale is still waiting to be weighed or paid.
