A manager and an employee talking at a desk while looking at a tablet, summer light through the window

“How many days do I have left?” “Who is off next week?” In many companies nobody can answer without digging through a notebook. The Almawarid Leave management module puts the request, the decision and the balance in one place: the employee asks, the manager decides with the balance in front of them, and the count keeps itself.

Leave in a notebook: arguments, and absences discovered the same morning

Employees ask for leave in passing, or on a slip of paper left on the desk. The manager says yes while thinking about something else, then finds out on the day that a second member of the team is away too. When summer comes, everyone has their own idea of how many days they have left, and the conversation rarely ends well.

The calculation itself is not simple: two and a half days per month worked, a reference period running from July to June, extra days for companies in the South, special leave for a wedding or a birth that does not touch the balance. Without a tool, the HR officer redoes it all by hand, and every mistake is paid for in trust.

One request, one decision, a balance that keeps itself

In Almawarid, employees send their request from their own dashboard: dates, type of leave, an optional reason, even a few hours on a single day. Their balance is shown alongside. The manager finds every pending request on the Leave screen, with the number of days requested and the employee's current balance on the same line, and approves or declines in one click. Two approved absences that overlap for the same employee are refused.

The balance follows Algerian labour law 90-11, using a standard reading spelled out on screen: 2.5 days per month of actual work, capped at 30 days a year, a reference period from 1 July to 30 June, and 10 extra days a year for companies registered in the South. Only approved annual leave reduces the balance; sick leave, absence or business travel do not. The screen says it plainly: these figures are indicative, a collective agreement can change the rules, and your accountant remains the reference for a specific case.

How it works, in four screens

  1. Leave: the balances of the whole team, employee by employee, with hiring date, the opening balance carried over at hiring and today's balance; an employee with no hiring date is flagged instead of showing a wrong figure.
  2. Add leave: the manager records a leave directly, already approved; for the special leave of article 54 (wedding, birth, bereavement, pilgrimage), the legal duration is pre-filled.
  3. Leave policy: you choose to count calendar days or working days, and whether untaken days roll over to the next year or reset on 30 June.
  4. Special pattern: for rotating crews in the South, the “Create the Sahara 4×4 pattern” button sets four weeks on site and four weeks off; each employee gets the date of their first rotation in, and the screen shows their next eight weeks.

What you gain

  • No more arguments about days left. The balance is the same for the employee and the manager, and both can see it.
  • Informed decisions. Every request arrives with the employee's balance and the number of days asked for.
  • Special cases covered. Pre-filled special leave, time off in lieu of overtime with the Time and attendance module, and 4×4, 6/3 or 21/21 cycles for sites in the South.
  • A clean history. The Leave & Absences report filters by employee and by status: pending, approved, declined.
  • The team at a glance. With the Time and attendance module, approved leave shows up in the monthly schedule grid and in the day view, instead of counting as an absence.

Who is it for?

Leave management serves every company with employees that wants to stop counting days by hand, from a small team to a production site. It becomes essential as headcount grows, or when part of the staff works on rotation.

  • Industrial SMEs and workshops
  • Shops and store networks
  • Construction companies
  • Service companies working on bases in the South
  • Clinics, schools and offices

Frequently asked questions

Is the balance compliant with law 90-11?

The calculation follows a standard reading of law 90-11, displayed on screen: 2.5 days per month of actual work, 30 days a year, South bonus. It remains indicative: a collective agreement or a contract may provide otherwise, and your accountant or the labour inspectorate settles a specific case.

Can we carry over balances from our old system?

Yes. Each employee record has an opening-balance field where you enter the days already earned; the calculation starts from there.

How are rotating employees handled?

With the special pattern: four weeks on site and four off for the Sahara 4×4, or another cycle you define. Rest weeks are not annual leave. For how annual leave is earned, two readings of the law coexist, and the screen lets you choose the one your collective agreement retains.

Does every employee need an account?

To request leave themselves, yes: they do it from their dashboard. Otherwise the manager records the leave on their behalf, and it is approved straight away.

Does leave show up in attendance?

With the Time and attendance module, an approved leave appears as leave, not as an absence, in the month's attendance.
